A Conversation with a Stubborn Child

Rory (pointing to our orange tabby): "Dog."

Me: "No, Cheddar is a cat."

Rory: "Dog."

Me: "Cat."

Rory (voice a little higher pitched): "Dog!"

Daddy: "No, Cat. 'K-uh, k-uh, Cat."

Rory: "Dog! Dog!"

Me: (pointing to Darby) "Dog." (then pointing to Cheddar) "Cat."

Rory (VERY emphatically, still pointing at Cheddar): "DOG! DOG! DOG!"

Daddy (pointing at Darby) : "What's that?"

Rory (confidently): "DOG!"

Daddy (pointing to Cheddar): "What's that?"

Rory (very confident): "DOG!"

Daddy: "Cat. Cat. Cat. Cat. K-uh-AT!"

Rory (now hitting Cheddar and yelling): "DOG! DOG! DOG!"
