"For Jonah"

It amazes me how much Rory has grown. She has such the little personality. We have little conversations about the things going on in her life. (It's such a busy life!) She thinks about her friends and family that she hasn't seen in weeks and months. She asks about them and talks about things she remembers little things about them. Before we even left Greenville, my dad stood up and hit is head on the light fixture in the dining room. Then, she would point to it and say "Papa boom." Now, every once in a while, she will still point to it (5 months later, different light fixture in a different house) and remember what happened, but now she'll say "Papa hit it, head." (She's starting to use pronouns a lot, but doesn't always remember to drop the noun...) She still remembers, but the way she communicates it has evolved. She loves to ask about Mimi and Grandpa, and Nana and Papa. Lately she's been yelling for Jimmy Joe. (Sorry Jimmy!) It's amazing.

I love being able to communicate with her. It blows my mind when she comes out with 5 and 6 word sentences and phrases. "Mommy, get it down please." "I love you too, daddy." "Hello giraffe. Come here, please." (I'll explain the giraffe thing in my next post)

So to the point. Since she seems to be doing so well communicating her thoughts, we have been trying to teach her to say her prayers. Not me or Nathan saying them for her like we have been, but letting her try to do it herself. We will prompt her with some things, but let her say what she wants. Here's how things went tonight:

Me and Nathan: "Fold your hands"

Me: "Can you say 'Dear God'?"

Rory: "Dear God"

Me: "What do you thank God for?"

Rory: "For Jonah"

And to that I say, "Amen."

So sweet...let me tell you, her vocabulary is going to boom here shortly. You think it's amazing now, just wait until she starts using big words in the correct context. It really blows our minds!
