I Heart Faces - Halloween
This week's theme at I Heart Faces is Halloween Dress-Up. The handful of people that follow my blog are probably sick to death of seeing and hearing about this costume, but I, on the other hand, couldn't be more delighted to share it and its story again.
One of my daughter's favorite TV shows is Yo Gabba Gabba! on Nick Jr. For Halloween, she decided she wanted to be Toodee, one of the characters from the show. Great. That is the ONE character from the show that they don't make a costume for. Translation: I have to make it.
I hiked my butt to the fabric store and bought some material. I should probably preface this by saying I don't really sew. I've done some buttons, a hem, and one set of curtains (although the curtains only required sewing in a straight line). That pretty much exhausts my sewing experience. So, fabric in hand, I set out to make a costume I don't even have a pattern for. The handy stitch type sewing maching that I have wouldn't sew through the fleece very well, which left me doing a lot of hand-stitching. After a month of cursing pouring my love into the costume, it was finally done. And Rory loves it. So all the times I jammed the needle into my finger (What? You're not supposed to do that? D'oh!) were totally worth it. Who would have thought that a heap of fabric and a foam cut-out nose could make a kid so happy?
